The Peak Alliance for a Sustainable Future hosts their monthly sustainability speaker series – Sustainability in Progress (SIP) on the 3rd Wednesday. The event is free.
This month’s topic will be about Education – affordability and access.
A little background. In 2012 a coalition of over 100 working with the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments approved a Regional Sustainability Plan. Included in that plan are Education goals. By 2030, comprehensive, affordable, lifelong educational opportunities are available to all. Achieving this goal means:
1. All students have access to a 21st-Century K-12 education that prepares them for the future.
2. Affordable, high-quality, early childhood care and education are available to all residents of the region to ensure school readiness.
3. Regional higher education and professional and technical skills training are increasingly available and accessible to residents of the region.
Stop by for a great discussion, coffee and pastries!
